Join Joan Green to learn about her top iPad picks for improving the beginning stages of written expression. She will spend the first 30 minutes presenting her favorite drill and practice apps as well as assistive technologies that can be used with the ipad. There will then be 30 minutes for collaboration, discussion and Q&A. A detailed handout will be emailed to participants with information about all the resources which are included in the presentation. This webinar is limited to the first 25 individuals who register.
A wide variety of apps and strategies wil be presented to help people who are working on writing words and sentences including: all children who are learning to write (with and without special needs), students who are struggling with written expression tasks, grown adults with intellectual disabilties as well as adults who have had strokes and head injuries and have lost much of their ability to write. The presentation is appropriate for speech-language pathologists, teachers, tutors, and families. A basic understanding of iPad use and the procedure for installing apps will be assumed.
Apps will be shown which can be used to help improve:
- the physical act of writing letters and words
- written word retrieval
- spelling and grammar
- forming sentences
Joan will also present her top picks for using the iPad as an assistive technology tool to help with writing using tools such as:
- word banks
- text to speech
- voice recognition- dictate and have the iPad do the typing
